Positive notes
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Radio-Telethon. Here are some of the great comments submitted to us online about the 2009 event:
We will never be able to thank the Staff at Dana-Farber [enough] for all their hard work and support. I think other hospitals could learn a lesson about how to treat patients from the staff at Dana-Farber. I have worked in health care my whole life and I have never seen or felt any place like [Dana-Farber]. No matter what the outcome is you know they have done their very best.

I want to thank the children of the Jimmy Fund for the inspiration they gave to my mother, Mary... Mary was a patient of Dana-Farber for breast cancer. Every time she went for an appointment she would tell me, "If these kids can do it, I can". Just looking at their faces and seeing joy and hope not sadness would encourage her to face another day with cancer. Thank you kids!

I love watching the telethon every year and also love seeing the progress that the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber have made. I'm a former patient, still going back each year, but [have had] no chemotherapy since 2003. I love to see everybody there, new and old, and love hearing others' success stories.

We spent many hours at Dana-Farber last year as my wife battled breast cancer. We were wavering whether we wanted to go for treatment locally when Dr. Partridge explained to us that Dana-Farber was worth the drive into the city. She was right and then some! We were lucky enough to have our friend Katie (a Dana-Farber nurse and savior) set us up with the most compassionate nurse we have ever encountered - Sherri. I could go on and on about the many wonderful people we met along the journey but because of these individuals specifically and Dana-Farber, my two girls are able to enjoy their mother each and every day. My eyes well up every time I think of my daughters with their mother. I'm forever indebted and in awe of what happens at Dana-Farber. Awesome!!!!

I feel blessed for my family's health and I would like to help those who are less fortunate and truly need help. They are all an inspiration and I'm just glad I have an ability to help support them: we all know someone with cancer and we need to support not just the ones we know, but everyone.

Listening on the Radio-Telethon to the courageous stories that the patients have gone through and are going through is inspirational. Knowing that there is an organization like the Jimmy Fund and that there is a place like Dana-Farber for people with this disease to go and get the best treatment available is comforting and gives hope to all. It is for this reason that I am proud and honored to donate to an organization that does such amazing work.

I am a scientist working on cancer drug research, so I know firsthand the challenges involved in the search for a cure. I give every year, but this morning, after hearing interviews on WEEI with the kids, I decided to dig a little deeper.

Everyone has been touched by cancer somewhere, somehow... I just came back to my office from visiting a friend who has been diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer and we are all trying to stay positive! Seeing her, mourning the death of Ted Kennedy, hearing all the stories on WEEI... I knew I had to make a (small) donation today. I listen to the Telethon every year and am both heartbroken and inspired by the stories I hear. THANK YOU for doing so much to get all of us involved.
