Record-setting year for the Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl®

In the midst of Boston's heat wave, the 26th annual Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl® presented by FedEx raised more than $345,000, a record for the three-day all-you-can-eat ice cream festival that supports cancer research and patient care for adults and children at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Boston City Hall Plaza on June 10-12 was the perfect place to cool off with frozen treats from Ben & Jerry's, Breyers, Brigham's, Cold Stone Creamery, Doriti Gelati, Élan Frozen Yogurt, Edy's Grand Ice Cream, Garelick Farms, Gifford's, Häagen-Dazs and HP Hood. In all, they served more than 8,000 gallons of ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet and gelati.

All of the ice cream companies donated 100 percent of their product and labor, plus hundreds of FedEx team members and other volunteers, including some wives and girlfriends of current Red Sox players, helped scoop, keeping lines short and ice cream lovers happy. In addition to the best frozen treats around, there was a full line-up of music, and Fitzy Snowman Sculpting built a life-size, 1950s era soda jerk out of sand.
