Make waves in the fight against cancer
Swim Across America benefit and auction, Thursday, July 12

Dive into summer this July by making waves in the fight against cancer. Swim Across America is back for a 12th year in Boston and 9th year at Nantasket Beach in Hull to support pediatric cancer survivorship programs at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Swim Across America events get under way on Thursday, July 12, with a party and auction. Mingle and mix with Olympic swimmers Janel Jorgensen, Jenny Thompson, Carlton Bruner, Craig Beardsley, Glenn Mills and Eric Wunderlich in the lobby of 125 High Street in Boston. Tickets cost $75. The party is from 6 – 10 p.m., with cocktails and appetizers, live music from the Spitting Vinnies and fabulous auction items. Dress is sassy, classy and comfortable.
On Friday, July 13, swimmers will jump into Boston Harbor for a 22-mile relay around the Harbor Islands. On Saturday, July 14, there will be a half- and one- mile swim at Nantasket Beach. All swim events are open to individuals and teams.
Swim Across America is a non-profit corporation that runs events from Boston to San Francisco to support cancer research at the country's finest hospitals and institutions. Proceeds from all of the Boston-area swims benefits the David B. Perini, Jr. Quality of Life Program at Dana-Farber. Experts there help pediatric cancer survivors with an array of issues, including long-term effects of treatment, social and psychological concerns and the risk of second cancers. Organizers hope to raise more than $300,000 this year with the three Boston-area events.
