Sole Searching
QVC's "FFANY Shoes on Sale" breast cancer event supports Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
"Sole" searching has a whole new meaning during breast cancer awareness month in October. The Women's Cancers Center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston will benefit from a mega shoe sale that will be broadcast into 90 million U.S. homes.
QVC®, the world's largest electronic retailer, has teamed up with the Fashion Footwear Association of New York (FFANY) for the 13th annual QVC Presents "FFANY Shoes on Sale," a charitable shoe sale for breast cancer research and education. The three-hour program is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006 from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. (EST). Now you can buy shoes for a good cause.
This year, QVC will be offering its viewers more than 100,000 pairs of shoes for half the manufacturer's suggested retail price. Net proceeds will benefit six leading national breast cancer research and education institutions, including Dana-Farber. Since the program's inception, QVC has sold more than one million pairs of shoes and has donated more than $22 million to the cause. Dana-Farber's Women's Cancers Program receives about $300,000 every year from this event.
In addition to the Oct. 18 scheduled broadcast, shoppers may also contribute to the cause by purchasing the "Shoe of the Day" offered each weekday during the month of October on QVC from 7 a.m. – 9 a.m. (EST), beginning Oct. 1 and continuing throughout the month.
Nine West Footwear Corporation and the Brown Shoe Company have donated more than 20,000 pairs of shoes each, bringing shoe shoppers such brands as: Bandolino, Enzo Angiolini, Via Spiga, Franco Sarto and Carlos by Carlos Santana. Other companies generously donating shoes include: Michael by Michael Kors, Coach, Keds, Lacoste, Rocket Dog and many, many more.
